The NiSi Athena Prime Cinema Lens series stands out for its versatility, high image quality, and special features, making it an attractive choice for professional filmmakers and videographers.

The Athena Prime Cinema Lens is available in eight focal lengths. The original lineup, consisting of 14mm, 25mm, 35mm, 50mm, and 85mm focal lengths, has been expanded with the addition of 18mm, 40mm, and 135mm lenses, offering filmmakers even greater flexibility when using NiSi Athena Prime Cinema Lenses. Whether capturing stunning landscapes with the 14mm lens or beautiful close-ups with the 135mm lens, the Athena series has the right lens for every purpose.

Most Athena lenses (except the 14mm lens) feature a 77mm filter thread, allowing for the use of a variety of filters, such as ND filters for exposure control, polarizers for reflection control, or graduated ND filters for better exposure control in high-contrast scenes. Matte boxes can also be mounted onto the lenses. The front diameter of all lenses is 80mm.

Outstanding light transmission and impressive bokeh

One of the standout features of the Athena Prime lenses is their high light transmission, ranging from T1.9 to T22 (14mm: T2.4 to T22 / 18mm and 135mm: T2.2 to T22). This large aperture allows for excellent results even in low-light conditions or when a shallow depth of field is needed. It also enables a particularly soft bokeh for beautiful background separation, which is especially important in the film industry, where lighting plays a crucial role in image quality.

Perfect videography

Designed with carefully controlled micro-contrast optimization and extremely low chromatic aberration, these lenses are engineered to deliver unparalleled image quality, capturing the finest image details in all their brilliance. Our series offers precise micro-contrast control, bringing every detail in your shots to life. Experience exceptional image quality with the remarkable ability to capture the most intricate details.

Another outstanding feature of our lenses is their incredible performance in low-light conditions. Whether shooting at dusk, indoors, or in other challenging lighting situations, the NiSi Athena Prime lens series provides remarkable low-light performance.

Precise focusing for creative masterpieces

The focus mechanism of the Athena Prime lenses enables precise and smooth focusing. With an impressive 300-degree focus rotation, filmmakers can make fine focus adjustments and achieve optimal sharpness. This is particularly important when working with manual focus to achieve creative effects and realize the desired image composition.

Additionally, the lens markings are fluorescent, improving readability in low-light conditions or dark environments. This is particularly beneficial for studio shoots or nighttime outdoor filming, as it facilitates the focusing process and ensures precise operation.

Full image quality to the edges

The lenses are specifically designed for full-frame cameras with an impressive 46mm image circle. This ensures that the entire sensor area is fully utilized, delivering high image quality and uniform rendering all the way to the edges. This is particularly important when using high-resolution full-frame cameras to maximize the sensor’s resolution potential.

Another advantage of the Athena Prime lenses is their exceptional optical performance. They provide outstanding sharpness in details and contrast variations, resulting in clear, vibrant, and impressive images. The lenses are precisely engineered and use high-quality optical elements to minimize distortion and aberrations. Focus breathing is also barely noticeable.

Seamless workflow for filmmakers

A practical feature of the Athena Prime lenses is their uniform size and weight. This is particularly useful for filmmakers who frequently switch between different shots and perspectives. Since all lenses of the same mount have the same weight and size, rebalancing the gimbal or tripod is not required when changing lenses. This saves valuable time and ensures a smooth production workflow.

The lenses are available in standard PL, E, and RF mounts, making them compatible with a wide range of professional camera bodies. Whether using a high-end cinema camera with a PL mount, a Sony E-mount camera, or a Canon RF camera, the Athena Prime lenses offer seamless integration and outstanding performance.

Innovative flexibility

Another remarkable feature of the NiSi Athena Prime Cinema Lenses is the ability to use drop-in filters in the E-mount and RF-mount versions. This innovative filter solution allows filmmakers and videographers to insert filters such as ND filters or variable NDs directly into the lens without changing the front element. This not only makes filter changes faster and easier but also minimizes the risk of dust and dirt on the optics. However, it is important to note that the PL-mount model of this lens series does not support the drop-in filter function. Nonetheless, all versions of the Athena Prime Cinema Lenses offer impressive performance and flexibility to meet the high demands of professional film productions.
