The NiSi JetMag Pro Matte Box complements the magnetic JetMag Pro filter system, providing precise light control for photography and videography. Weighing just 140 g, with a matt interior surface and a removable carbon fibre top flag, it is particularly suitable for gimbals, handheld rigs and compact cine set-ups.

Matte box for JetMag Pro 82MAG and 95MAG filters

The NiSi JetMag Pro Matte Box has been specially developed for the JetMag Pro filter system and is compatible with the 82MAG and 95MAG magnetic filter series. This means that existing JetMag Pro filters can still be quickly attached and changed magnetically. The patented locking system then holds the mounted filters securely in place – an advantage during moving camera shots, outdoor productions and quick changes on set. Depending on the adapter solution used, the matte box can be combined with lenses featuring 67, 72, 77, 82, 86 or 95 mm filter threads. In addition, cinema lenses with an external diameter of 95 mm are supported. This means the same system can be used on both still cameras and cine rigs. Various JetMag Pro filter types are compatible, such as ND, CPL, VND, Black Mist and other creative diffusion filters, allowing photographers and filmmakers to adapt their filter set-up to the specific shooting situation without changing the matte box.

Carbon Fibre Top Flag for controlled stray light

A matte box is designed to block out unwanted light before it hits the lens. To this end, the NiSi JetMag Pro Matte Box features a matt interior surface that absorbs reflections and reduces stray light. This helps to minimise flare and veiling glare whilst maintaining contrast in the image – for example, when shooting against the light, in direct sunlight or with harsh light sources on a film set. The system also includes a removable carbon fibre top flag. It specifically shields the lens from light coming from above and can be fitted or removed in a matter of moments. Carbon fibre keeps the construction lightweight whilst ensuring it retains its shape. This provides a compact solution for light control in video recording, professional film productions and photography, without the need to mount a bulky, traditional matte box system onto the rig. Particularly on gimbals and handheld set-ups, the minimal additional weight helps to keep the camera system agile.

Just 140 g for gimbals, handheld rigs and cine set-ups

Weighing just 140 g, the matte box is designed for mobile camera set-ups. Side air vents reduce wind resistance, thereby helping to ensure more stable performance during fast camera movements, shots from moving vehicles or filming in windy conditions. The clamp-on mounting allows for quick installation and holds the matte box securely in front of the lens once locked into place. This means that lens changes or modifications to the rig can be carried out without the need for complicated tool-based assembly. For wide-angle shots, NiSi also provides an important technical specification: according to the manufacturer, no vignetting occurs when using a single JetMag Pro filter in front of a 15 mm lens; the True Colour VND is the exception to this. Combined with its compatibility with 82MAG and 95MAG, the NiSi JetMag Pro matte box is therefore suitable for a variety of photography, video and cine set-ups where quick filter changes, low weight and controlled light intake are required.
