The NiSi JetMag Pro Matte Box Kit (82MAG) has been designed to block out distracting stray light before it reaches the front lens. The matt interior surface of the matte box reduces unwanted reflections, thereby helping to ensure a controlled image in challenging lighting conditions. In addition, the removable carbon fibre top flag can be used to specifically shield the front lens from light coming from above. This is useful, for example, when filming outdoors, shooting under studio lighting or in scenes with strong light sources outside the frame. Weighing around 140 g, the matte box remains comparatively light and is therefore also suitable for compact handheld and gimbal set-ups. The appropriate adapter ring is attached to the lens’s filter thread and then serves as a mount for the matte box. For videographers, this is useful, for example, when an ND or VND filter is required for exposure control, whilst diffusion filters can be used to deliberately alter the visual effect. Photographers also benefit from the ability to quickly integrate compatible filters into their existing setup. At very short focal lengths, the number and type of filters, as well as the lens used, can influence potential vignetting. The specific combination should therefore be checked, particularly when taking extreme wide-angle shots. For mobile use, the system thus combines stray light control, filter integration and a compact design in a single solution.
