Product information "Nisi 16mm F2.8 ASPH. MF - Hasselblad XCD Mount (black)"

The NiSi 16mm F2.8 for medium format offers an extremely wide angle of view for high-resolution medium-format cameras. This ultra-wide-angle lens is designed for landscape photographers, astrophotographers, architectural professionals, and travel photographers using the Fujifilm GFX or Hasselblad XCD systems.

16mm Ultra-Wide Angle for Landscapes, Architecture, and Confined Spaces

With a 16mm focal length and a 118° diagonal angle of view, the lens captures very large scenes without having to switch to a full-frame or 35mm system. The perspective is equivalent to approximately 12.6mm on a full-frame camera, making it ideal for expansive landscapes, striking foregrounds, interiors, and architectural shots. In medium-format photography in particular, this creates an unusually immersive look: foreground elements can be brought close to the camera, while the background remains expansive and spacious. The minimum focusing distance of 0.25m further supports such compositions, as it allows for greater emphasis on foreground details. For travel photographers and professional landscape photographers, this means greater creative freedom, especially when a single ultra-wide-angle lens is to be used for both dramatic nature shots and urban scenes.

f/2.8 Aperture and Precise Control for Astrophotography

The f/2.8 maximum aperture is particularly relevant for a medium-format ultra-wide-angle lens because it allows for shorter exposure times during night photography. In astrophotography, the large aperture helps bring more light onto the sensor before star trails become visible. At the same time, the lens is designed for high sharpness at wide-open aperture and controls coma across the image field, ensuring that point light sources are rendered more cleanly. This is important for stars, city lights, and other high-contrast subjects in low-light conditions. Manual focus with 180° of adjustment range allows for fine corrections when precise focusing on stars, distant landscape details, or architectural lines is required. For users who deliberately work manually, this model offers direct, controlled operation instead of automated compromises.

Optical Design for 100MP+ Medium-Format Sensors

The optical system, comprising 16 elements in 12 groups, utilizes three aspherical elements and four ultra-low-dispersion elements to achieve high resolution, contrast, and controlled chromatic aberration. The near-APO correction reduces visible chromatic aberrations in high-contrast areas, such as along rock edges, buildings, or bright light sources. In architectural photography, the low distortion ensures straight lines from the center to the edge and facilitates clean image composition right from the moment the shot is taken. The 8-blade aperture produces clear 8-point sunstars from f/4 to f/22, opening up additional creative possibilities for backlit scenes, night shots, and cityscapes. A metal housing, moisture-resistant sealing rings, as well as NiSi SA+ Ultra-Low Reflection Super Broadband Coating and Ultra-Hard Protective Coating enhance everyday usability, reduce reflections, and make cleaning easier. The 82mm filter thread accommodates a single filter; a matching adapter ring for JetMag Pro 95MAG filters is included.
