In landscape photography, filters are an essential tool for bringing creative ideas to life. Regardless of the location or lighting conditions, they enable you to enhance mood and overcome technical challenges. The quality of the filters plays a key role in this. They influence colour fidelity, image sharpness, and ultimately, the overall result.
NiSi stands for the highest quality standards in filter manufacturing and is clearly aimed at ambitious and professional users. NiSi stands out from many other manufacturers, particularly through its innovative solutions in the design of filter holders. A prime example of this is the new JetMag Pro magnetic filter system.
What is the NiSi JetMag Pro?
In times when mobility and efficiency are more important than ever, magnetic filter systems offer a contemporary solution. After leaving behind the bulky plug-in filter system, the NiSi Swift system was my first step towards more compact filter technology. Today, I enjoy working with the JetMag system. A fully magnetic system that combines simplicity, quality and flexibility.
The filters are available in two sizes: 82 mm and 95 mm, which are compatible with a wide variety of lenses using matching adapter rings. They can be attached magnetically either directly to the adapter ring or to filters that are already in place. This is a great advantage if you want to use several filters at the same time. Even with an ultra-wide-angle lens (e.g. 14 mm), there are no vignetting problems.
What particularly impresses me is the enormous time savings during use. On a trip to Norway, I had ideal conditions for landscape photography – lots of light and dynamic water scenes. I combined the TC CPL with an ND filter to achieve an exposure time of about half a second – perfect for balancing structure and movement in the water. Changing the filter took just a few seconds, without losing sight of the subject. An additional advantage became apparent due to the fine spray from the sea: the outer filter quickly became dirty. Thanks to the magnetic closure, I was able to quickly remove it, clean it with a cloth and temporarily protect it with the magnetic cover.

The available Filters
The system is available in standard sizes and can be easily attached to the front lens using adapter rings. In addition to the popular 82 mm version, there is also a 95 mm system for larger lenses. At the heart of the system are the high-quality filter glasses, which have been developed for various applications:
ND filters (neutral density filters) in various strengths
Polarising filters (CPL)
UV filters
Mist filters
Natural night filters
Cross screen effect filters
and many more!
Particularly practical: the filters are also available as kits, which are not only attractively priced but also offer a useful combination for beginners and professionals alike. The kit comes in a compact bag with a carabiner – ideal for attaching to a backpack or tripod. Thanks to separate front and rear covers, several filters can be stacked securely and stored in a space-saving manner.
Another well-designed feature is the mechanical locking mechanism for the filters. It prevents accidental removal or slippage – a safety factor that should not be underestimated, especially when used outdoors.

My experiences
When I first heard that NiSi was working on a magnetic system, my curiosity was immediately piqued, and my expectations were not disappointed. The ease of use is a huge advantage for me as a landscape photographer.
In the past, I regularly had to explain how to use plug-in filter systems during workshops. With the JetMag system, that's a thing of the past. Today, all I often need is a jacket pocket, a few filters, front and rear caps, and a cleaning cloth. That's all I need most of the time. This allows me to focus on the subjects and the beautiful landscape.
The locking mechanism is intuitive to use. My only minor criticism is that the polarising filter needs to be rotated to achieve the desired effect.
I use the polarising filter most often, closely followed by ND filters in strengths ND8 and ND16. The mist filter creates particularly atmospheric images, for example in deciduous forests or on misty streams.
Conclusion
For anyone who is new to filters or looking for a straightforward, professional system, the NiSi JetMag Pro System is highly recommended. It combines first-class quality, ease of use and practical expandability. It couldn't be easier!
