The NiSi NC UV for Hasselblad (86 mm) has been specially developed to meet the high resolution requirements of Hasselblad cameras with sensors of 100 megapixels or more. It utilises lens-grade optical glass, designed for high light transmission, chemical stability and neutral colour reproduction. According to the manufacturer, NiSi’s Ultra Low Reflection Coating (ULRC) achieves light transmission of up to 99.9 per cent. This minimises light loss, reflections and stray light. This is particularly relevant when shooting against the light or with strong light sources, as the additional optical influence of the filter should be kept to a minimum. A manufacturing process optimised for high sharpness also improves the flatness and parallelism of the filter surfaces. This is designed to maintain the resolution performance of high-resolution Hasselblad sensors across the entire image field. The UV filter can therefore be used permanently to protect the front lens without unnecessarily compromising detail, contrast and natural colour reproduction.

395 nm UV protection for clear landscape and telephoto shots

In addition to providing mechanical protection for the front lens, the NiSi NC UV for Hasselblad (86 mm) also acts as an optical filter. Ultraviolet light below 395 nm is blocked, which helps to reduce atmospheric haze when shooting over long distances. This can, for example, contribute to a clearer image and improved contrast in landscape photography across valleys or when photographing distant subjects. The filter glass is designed for neutral colour reproduction, ensuring that the UV filtering does not cause any noticeable colour shift. The high light transmission also minimises unwanted light loss. For landscape and travel photographers, the filter thus combines lens protection with an optical function for long-distance shots. During frequent outdoor use, the filter glass also absorbs impacts that would otherwise be borne directly by the front lens. Dust, splashes and fingerprints first come into contact with the filter, ensuring that the sensitive lens surface remains better protected during daily use and transport.

48-layer nano-coating and robust brass frame

The NiSi NC UV for Hasselblad (86mm) features a water- and oil-repellent nano-coating on both sides, comprising a total of 48 layers. This allows raindrops and splashes to roll off more easily, whilst fingerprints, oil and other dirt can be removed more readily. This makes cleaning easier during travel and outdoor photography and reduces direct contact with the front lens element. The optical glass is set in a solid brass frame. This is designed to ensure even screw-in alignment and resists deformation and potential jamming, which can occur with lighter frames when exposed to cold temperatures or following mechanical stress. Colour-filled labelling makes the filter type and size quickly recognisable, even in poor lighting conditions. The frame is also precisely tailored for use with the original Hasselblad lens cap. This can be fitted over the mounted UV filter and, according to the manufacturer, sits securely without any unwanted gaps. This means the filter can remain on the lens during transport and between individual shots.
