Medium GND8 with 3 stops for controlled skies

The NiSi JetMag Pro Medium FS GND8 (0.9) (95MAG) reduces light in the darkened area by three f-stops and transitions to the clear area with a medium gradation. This allows bright skies to be balanced against a darker foreground without the transition being as abrupt as with a hard graduated filter. The 1/2 gradation combines clearer definition along the horizon with a transition that remains smooth towards the foreground. It is particularly suitable for subjects where skylines, rows of trees or low mountain ridges break the horizon but do not extend far into the sky. Coastal landscapes, rolling hills and urban scenes can also be specifically balanced using this filter. The GND filter helps landscape photographers to preserve detail in both bright and dark areas of the image right from the moment the shot is taken, thereby achieving a natural-looking exposure in high-contrast lighting conditions.

Colours and contrasts remain consistent across the visible spectrum, which is important for both high-resolution photography and video recording. A colour cast within the gradient zone can become particularly noticeable in moving images. For filmmakers and content creators, the filter’s neutral effect therefore enables precise exposure control directly whilst shooting. The optical glass is combined with NiSis Pro Nano Coating. This multi-layer coating reduces reflections and stray light, and repels water and oil, making it easier to keep the filter clean during outdoor shooting. In landscape videos, travel productions or YouTube shoots, bright skies can thus be controlled whilst the foreground remains largely unaffected. This reduces the need to correct large differences in brightness solely during post-production.

JetMag Pro 95MAG for quick filter changes when shooting outdoors

The NiSi JetMag Pro Medium FS GND8 (0.9) (95MAG) utilises the magnetic JetMag Pro 95MAG system, allowing the filter to be attached and removed quickly. A patented locking mechanism ensures a secure hold, even when several compatible filters are stacked on the same adapter. Within the 95MAG system, the graduated filter can be stacked with, amongst others, True Colour CPL, FS ND and diffusion filters. A compatible 95MAG adapter ring is required for mounting on the lens. The system supports 95mm-95MAG as well as 86mm-95MAG, 82mm-95MAG, 77mm-95MAG and 72mm-95MAG. This means the magnetic GND filter can be used on multiple lenses with the appropriate adapter rings. The particularly slim aluminium frame is designed to minimise vignetting and, according to the manufacturer, is suitable for full-frame wide-angle lenses up to 15 mm. Blue grips make it easier to identify and remove the filter. In addition, the model is compatible with the magnetic 95MAG front cap, so it can remain attached and protected between shots.
