NiSi Ambassador
I have been taking photographs since I was eight years old and bought my first analogue SLR camera at the age of twelve when I started photographing nature - initially birds, later landscapes and animals. I particularly enjoy the morning and evening light, especially when I can capture special animal behaviour or unique lighting conditions with beautiful clouds in landscapes.
I always spend a lot of time with animals or at a viewpoint, waiting for a unique moment and a unique image, rather than taking a quick snapshot and moving on to another subject.
I give a lot of photography workshops, lectures on photography and organise small group photo trips focusing on wildlife and landscapes all over Europe. On these trips and workshops I teach participants how to ‘read’ the landscape, how to discover leading lines for composition and how to create depth in their images.
I believe that an image doesn't have to be 100% technically perfect - it should evoke an emotional response from the viewer. I am constantly striving to improve my best shots and experimenting with new equipment.
Before I discovered NiSi filters, I was using a different brand, but there was a blue cast with very long exposures, and NiSi filters don't have that problem, so I switched. I have also found that NiSi glass filters produce sharper and more beautiful images than scratch-sensitive resin filters and NiSi is much quicker to offer solutions when new lenses are launched and they listen to photographers when developing new products.
I use the NiSi S6 filter holder with the 150mm system on the Sigma 14mm f/1.8 and the Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8. My ‘best friend’ is the ND graduated filter, which I use for every landscape shot.
